Half term activities: light up the room with your LED lamp!

image

LED lamps are an awesome way of decorating and lighting up your room. They look great and they’re super-easy to make. Have a go at our simple method!

You will need

• LEDs

• Wires

• AA-batteries

• Switch

• Various materials for decoration and building

Steps

1. First get mum or dad to explain how a simple circuit works, using the batteries, wires and LEDs. If you are using a switch then connect it to the circuit between the battery and the LED.

2. Now you know how to make a circuit, get creative with different designs for your lamp! You could put your circuit in a cardboard box and cut out different shaped holes so the light projects these shapes on the walls. Or make a lamp with coloured paper, so your light shines out in different colours!

3. For the best effect, turn off all lighting in the room, draw the curtains, and see how your lamp glows!
